PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a foundation work machine controllable in a groove with a simple structure. SOLUTION: This invention relates to the foundation work machine 10 for excavating the groove in soil. The machine 10 has a frame 12 attached with a soil removing tool 14, a control flap device 1 being a control device for matching the foundation work machine 10 in the groove and having two control flaps 16 and 18 opposed on both sides of the frame 12 and supported like a pair, and a guide wheel device 5 arranged in the frame 12 and having at least one guide wheel 50 capable of extension and retraction.
