PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a label pasting apparatus capable of improving the confidentiality of confidential information mentioned on a document such as an envelope. SOLUTION: The label pasting apparatus includes a paper conveyance roller 18 for carrying the confidential information mentioned document having a confidential information describing column on a conveyance path 9, a conceal label peeler for peeling a conceal label from a conceal label seal, a conceal label pasting unit 10 for pasting the peeled conceal label onto the confidential information describing column of the document on a paper path, a label pasting failure detecting sensor 32 for detecting abnormality in pasting the label pasted to the document, a stacker tray 11 for storing the document from the conveyance path, a reject tray 12 for storing rejected paper, a switching gate 15 for switching over the conveyance direction of the document toward the stacker tray or toward the reject tray, and a microprocessor for switching over the switching gate toward the reject tray when the abnormality in pasting the conceal label is detected by the label pasting failure detecting sensor.
