PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine tool which largely secures a workpiece machining area, facilitates carrying-in/carrying-out of a workpiece w to/from a jig 28, secures the workpiece machining area without limitation by a front lower portion of its base 100, and is improved in workpiece machining precision. SOLUTION: The machine tool is formed of a machining head 102 having a vertical rotating shaft 26A having a lower end to which a tool T is fixed, and a guiding driving means 101 for slidably dislocating the machining head 102 in a longitudinal direction Y, a lateral direction X, and the vertical direction Z. Herein a front surface 1c of the base 100 is formed into a single plane orthogonal to the longitudinal direction Y, and the jig 28 for fixing to it the workpiece w which is to be machined by the tool T, is arranged on the single plane at some midpoint of the front surface in a condition of overhanging from the plane.
