PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the burden caused by opening and closing a cover when taking out and putting in laundry. SOLUTION: An outer tank cover 26 is made automatically openable and closable by the driving power of an outer tank cover opening/closing motor and a drum cover opening/closing mechanism 79 is installed on the outer tank cover 26 in contact with a drum cover 25 for automatically opening or closing the drum cover 25. When the operation of a drum washing machine 1 is finished a knock pin 166 of the drum cover opening/closing mechanism 79 is advanced forward based on a signal indicating that the operation is finished and is brought into contact with a first cover 73 to half-open the drum cover 25.
