PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus and a heating apparatus control method capable of preventing the surface deterioration of a heat roller and improving temperature detection accuracy by a non-contact temperature detecting element. SOLUTION: The fixing apparatus comprises; the heat roller 2; a pressure roller 3; an induction heating apparatus 7 which heats the heat roller; a 1st non-contact temperature detecting section 8 which is provided in non-contact with the surface of the heat roller 2 , and which detects the surface temperature of the heat roller 2 in the vicinity of the induction heating apparatus 7; a 2nd non-contact temperature detecting section 9 which is provided in non-contact with a surface of each of the heat roller 2 and the pressure roller, and which detects the surface temperature of at least one of the heat roller 2 and the pressure roller; and a control section which compares a difference between a 1st temperature detected by the 1st non-contact temperature detecting section 8 and a 2nd temperature detected by the 2nd non-contact temperature detection section 9 with a prescribed specified temperature difference, and when the difference between the 1st temperature and the 2nd temperature is greater than the specified temperature difference for a prescribed period or longer, stops heating of the heat roller by the induction heating apparatus.
