A varnish composition drying in air comprises one or more resins produced according to Specifications 795,609, 825,979 and 827,713 dissolved in an organic solvent and containing 0.5 to 20% by weight, based on the amount of resin, of a drying catalyst. The drying catalyst is constituted by one or more compounds selected from the lead, cobalt, tin or alkyl-tin salts of organic acids, the organic esters of titanic, stannic or zirconic acids and the reaction products of titanium with a glycol, with an aminoalcohol or with an organic ester of an aminoalcohol. When the resin is synthesized from a monohydric alcohol which does not contain at least one double bond or an alkylated phenyl radical, there is also added to the composition an ethylenic, acetylenic or abietyl monohydric alcohol in an amount between 1 and 40% by weight based on the amount of resin used. |
