<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eye opening degree estimating device for properly estimating the eye opening degree of the eyes of a figure. <P>SOLUTION: In an eye opening degree estimating device 1A, a search axis SA to be used for estimating an eye opening degree is set in an eye region image ERI, and the luminance value of the eye region image ERI is integrated for the position of the direction of the search axis SA along a direction vertical to the search axis SA so that a vertical integration projection histogram HI(x) can be generated. Then, the eye opening degree of an eye included in the eye region image ERI is estimated based on featured values relating to at least one of the vertical integration projection histogram HI(x) and the eye region image ERI at the position in the direction of the search axis SA where the vertical integration projection histogram HI(x) is set as an extremal value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
