<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display apparatus capable of reducing displacement of a pixel of the light valve of each of light modulating sections after color composition sections and light modulation sections are fixed with a photo-setting type adhesive. <P>SOLUTION: The projection type display apparatus is provided with: color decomposition sections 12 and 15 for decomposing light from a light source 11 into a plurality of color components; the light modulation sections (19R, 19G, 19B and 26) having light valves that modulate light rays of the respective color components, into which the light is decomposed by the color decomposition section; and the color composition sections (21, 20R, 20G, 20B, 17R, 17G, 17B, and 24) that detect light rays of the respective color components modulated by the light valves and compose the colors.
