PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for image forming capable of suppressing a residual potential increase in repeated use of a photoreceptor and outputting a highly durable image at a high speed, and also to provide a method for image forming. SOLUTION: The apparatus for image forming has at least an electrostatic latent image carrier, an electrostatic latent image forming means which forms an electrostatic latent image on the electrostatic latent image carrier, a developing means which forms a visible image by developing the electrostatic latent image by using a toner, a transfer means which transfers the visible image to a recording medium, a fixing means which fixes the transfer image transferred to the recording medium, and a destaticizing means which optically destaticizes the residual charge of the electrostatic latent image carrier, in which the destaticizing means is a destaticizing means to irradiate light of a short wavelength below 500 nm, and the electrostatic image carrier has a support and a photosensitive layer consisting of at least a charge generating layer and a charge transfer layer on the support and contains titanyl phthalocyanine and a diazo pigment in the charge generating layer.
