PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adjusting the response pH of a pH responsive microcapsule or the discharge speed of the content of the pH responsive microcapsule. SOLUTION: In this preparation of the pH responsive microcapsule having a preservative microencapsulated in its capsule wall comprising a polymeric compound, a copolymer composed of a styrenic monomer and an amine-containing monomer is selected as the polymeric compound and the copolymerization ratio of the monomers is adjusted to obtain the microcapsule controlled so that the discharge time of the preservative in the microcapsule under a desired pH condition becomes short.
