PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and method for enabling flexible operations according to the needs of users by authenticating each kind of access. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 11 has a storage device 110 such as a hard disk and has the function of causing document data stored in the storage device 110 to be backed up into a client PC connected thereto via a network 13, and of restoring the backed up document data to the storage device 110.
