<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal recording material which can produce a high-quality image free from density nonuniformity by effectively preventing a sticking stain from being generated on the surface of a thermal head after printing, while maintaining a printing torque reduction effect, as a thermal recording material for recording an image using a thermal head, and a method for manufacturing the thermal recording material and a thermal recording method using the thermal recording material. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the thermal recording material is to laminate a thermal recording layer and a protecting layer containing a higher fatty acid ester, on a support. The higher fatty acid ester to be used has not less than 300°C heat decomposition temperature. The thermal recording material is obtained by the method for manufacturing the thermal recording material.
