<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and promptly assemble, to improve productivity, and to assure desired performance. <P>SOLUTION: This fuel cell is provided with an electrolyte film/electrode web member 12 with a plurality of anode-side electrode surfaces 26 and cathode side electrode surfaces 28 formed on both sides 24a, 24b of a long solid polymer electrolytic film 24. First and second gas diffusion current collecting members 14, 16 are inserted from both side parts of the electrolyte film/electrode web member 12.
