<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To resolve problems wherein, when regenerating an adsorbent using chemicals, an alkaline solution in particular, regeneration time is needed, efficient regeneration cannot be obtained, and complicated operations such as washing of the adsorbent with chemicals and drying are needed. <P>SOLUTION: Nitrogen oxides is adsorbed and removed with an absorbent loaded with platinum. When regenerating the adsorbent, hydrogen is supplied to the surface of the adsorbent to convert the adsorbent into a substance of structure that does not adsorb the adsorbed nitrogen oxides by hydrogen, to separate the nitrogen oxides from the adsorbent surface.
