<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermite oxidation/reduction reactant which can be produced at a low cost by using, as a raw material, a fine particulate material derived from aluminum, magnesium, titanium, silicon, alloys thereof, or reducing compounds of these metals as by-products or wastes, and also to provide a method for concentrating platinum-group metals dispersed in catalysts for exhaust gas from automobiles etc. and recovering them at a low cost by using the thermite oxidation/reduction reactant. <P>SOLUTION: The thermite oxidation/reduction reactant comprises: a reducing raw material composed mainly of combined metals derived from metal aluminum, metal magnesium, alloys thereof, or reducing compounds of these metals; and an iron-oxide raw material. By using this reactant, platinum-group elements in the catalysts for exhaust gas are melted and concentrated and recovered at a low cost. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
