PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten transmission time of e-mail in a wireless network, in a gateway device for connecting a computer network to transmit the e-mail with simple mail transfer protocol and the wireless network to transmit the e-mail with hyper text transfer protocol. SOLUTION: As for downstream, a system controlling part I-MAX of the gateway device GWS converts header items of e-mail into data in a format using a mark up language after deleting predetermined header items of e-mail by a mail header deletion part IM7. As for upstream, on the other hand, the predetermined header items are added by a mail header adding part IM8 after converting data format of the e-mail into a data format which can be transferred by the simple mail transfer protocol.
