PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic disk unit etc. by which stable writing can be performed anytime when writing while preventing a thermal effect by write current. SOLUTION: The magnetic disk unit using a write head for writing a signal into a magnetic disk determines a starting time of writing the signal. When the starting time of writing the signal is determined, the magnetic disk unit sets the write current to be supplied to the write head to be larger at the time of starting writing the signal, and sets the write current to be smaller than that at the time of starting the writing the signal thereafter.
