PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low current type oxygen pump free from the occurrence of crack or peeling against radical thermal shock. SOLUTION: The oxygen pump is provided with a metallic foil member 12 having a plurality of opening parts the periphery of which is coated with an insulating body 14, a plurality of oxygen ion conductive solid electrolytes 7 stuck to the insulating body 14 and an electrode membrane 10 formed on both surfaces of the solid electrolyte 7, wherein the polarity of a plurality of the electrode membranes 10 is in the same direction to the metallic foil membrane 12 and the plurality of the solid electrolytes 7 form a series circuit electrically. Then, the series circuit is formed by connecting the plurality of the solid electrolytes 7 to the metallic foil part 12 to accumulate the voltage applied to the solid electrolytes 7 and the oxygen pump is operated with a high voltage low current. The solid electrolyte 7 has sufficient flexibility to the thermal shock or thermal stress because of being arranged above the metallic foil member 12. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
