PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filling apparatus which simply and surely fills a proper volume of a liquid into a container according to the type of the container. SOLUTION: The filling apparatus is equipped with a determining section 10 which determines the type of the container 1, a filling section 20 which fills the liquid into the container 1, and a control section 30 which controls the filling section 20 so as to fill the liquid into the container in a volume according to the type of the container 1 that is determined by the determining section 10. The determining section 10 comprises a weight meter 12 for measuring the weight of the container 1, and a type reference table 14 for specifying the type of the container 1 on the basis of the weight of the container 1. The determining section 10 specified the type of the container 10 on the basis of the weight of the container 1, and provides the control section 30 with information indicating the specified type.
