CARBON FIBER CONJUGATE AND COMPOSITE MATERIAL USING THE SAME

This invention provides a three-dimensional network carbon fiber structure formed of carbon fibers having an outer diameter of 15 to 100 nm. In an embodiment where a plurality of carbon fibers are extended, the carbon fiber structure is produced by adding a binder, for bonding a carbon fiber structure, to a carbon fiber structure having grain parts for mutually bonding the carbon fibers to provide a carbon fiber conjugate. A fine carbon fiber structure having a special structure, which has properties favorable as a filler for a composite material and, at the same time, has good handleability, can be provided. A composite material can be produced by incorporating 0.1 to 30% by mass, based on the whole composite material, of the carbon fiber conjugate into a matrix.
