<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ticket check machine for preventing a ticket medium from being erroneously taken out, and to provide a ticket check method. <P>SOLUTION: A throw-in port 2 is closed, based on the reception of the ticket medium which is thrown in from the throw-in port 2, so as to read ticket check information which is necessary for ticket check processing from the received ticket medium via reading heads 24, 25. The ticket check processing is performed based on the read ticket check information. The ticket medium is discharged from a discharge port 3, based on the ticket check processing.
