<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a basal metabolic rate measuring instrument capable of measuring a basal metabolic rate obtained by adding the sthenia degree of autonomic nerves to that calculated simply like the conventional manner. <P>SOLUTION: Physical information containing at least a body weight of a subject is obtained (step S101 and S102). Next, electrocardio-waveform data of the patient is measured to measure the sthenia degree of the autonomic nerves from the measured electrocardio-waveform data (step S104 to S110). Next, on the basis of the obtained physical information, a simple basal metabolic rate is calculated (step S111) to calculate the basal metabolic rate on the basis of the calculated basal metabolic rate and the measured excitation degree of the autonomic nerves (step S112).
