PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform image processing for color reproducing a color document image readably. SOLUTION: The color image processor performs processing (preprocessing) for generating second color conversion parameters using a layout analyzing section 1, a character, a background color extracting section 2, an input image character, a background color difference calculating section 3, an output image character, a background color difference predicting section 4, and a color conversion parameter correcting section 5, and then performs the color transformation (main processing) of input color image data using a first color converting section 6, a second color converting section 7, and a color conversion switching section 8.
