PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically restart a controller equipped with a plurality of regions, where a program is stored by an old program before downloading, without waiting for the downloading of a normal program, when a downloaded new program could not operate normally. SOLUTION: A controller, equipped with a plurality of memory banks where a program to be executed by a CPU is stored, is provided with a watchdog circuit for generating a reset signal for resetting the CPU, when operation abnormality of the CPU is detected; an error detection circuit for generating a bank switching control signal for performing the bank switching of the plurality of memory banks, based on the reset signal; and a bank-switching circuit for performing bank switching of the plurality of memory banks by the bank-switching control signal from the error detection circuit or the CPU.
