A nonvolatile storage device includes a nonvolatile memory (104) for storing data such as a flash memory and a controller (103) for controlling data write and read into/from the nonvolatile memory. The nonvolatile memory (104) contains control information (control program, control parameter) specifying the control method of data write/read into/from the nonvolatile memory. The controller (103) judges the type of the nonvolatile memory, acquires control information from the nonvolatile memory according to the acquisition procedure corresponding to the type, and loads the control information.
