The device has a screw gearbox for converting shaft rotary motion into a transducer movement with a linear component. The transducer is guided as on the surface of a circular cylinder and has an associated sensor fixed to the housing. A first threaded part of the gearbox is mounted axially rigidly relative to the housing but rotatable on roller bodies and the second threaded part can turn relative to the first but is guided in the axial direction.
