A method of making a bed side rail 10 comprises providing a pair of spaced substantially horizontal members, providing a pair of resiliently deformable covers 11,12 that extend for the full lengths of the horizontal members, connecting the ends of the resiliently deformable covers by means of vertical members 13,14 thereby creating a frame that, in use, extends alongside a bed, and securing a sheet of flexible, transparent, fire-retardant plastics material 16 within the frame so the plastics material provides a transparent window within the frame. The side rail 10 allows the occupant of the bed to see more of the surrounding environment, and allows others, e.g. carers, to see the occupant. |
