1,009,371. Hinges and pivots;. tent frames. E. P. PINERO. Oct. 30, 1961 [April 21, 1961], No. 38678/61. Headings E1A and E2F. A collapsible reticular structure which when erected provides a framework for a covering comprises a plurality of groups of n rods B jointed together at points 2 intermediate their ends for relative articulation and each end of each rod of a group being jointed at 1, 3 for relative articulation to the end of (n-1) rods of (n-1) further groups, the resultant three articulation axes of each rod being parallel and disposed transversely of the latter and lying in a common plane which also contains the longitudinal axis of the rod. The end joints 1, 2, 3, are directly interconnected by cables a, b, c, in direct tension to limit the unfolding of the assembly to provide a predetermined structure. The joints 3 may rest on their pins 15, Fig. 2, or on supporting legs connected to joints inward of the structure edge, stays being provided to the boundary in place of some cables c. The cables a b may be replaced by a fabric covering. The rods B may be bent at their central joint to remove the bending movements caused by straight rods. The central joints 2, Fig. 3, comprise fixed arms to which the rods are secured by nuts 7-9 while the joints 1, 3 comprise a core 10 mounting arms 11-13 to receive the rods and through which passes threaded pins 15, 16 on which is a movable sleeve 14, which can be screwed down over cables a-c passing through slots 17 to lock them in position.
|
