A PC-based multi-channel DVR(Digital Video Recorder) system and a method thereof are provided to improve an image acquisition speed and achieve multiple channels without adding a CPU(Central Processing Unit) by using a PCI(Peripheral Component Interconnect)-to-PCI bridge as a multimedia PCI device. A PC-based multi-channel DVR system includes an image receiving device, a plurality of video CODEC ICs(31), a PCI bus(32), a first PCI bus(33), a second PCI bus(34), and a PCI-to-PCI bridge(35). The image receiving device acquires an image to generate a video signal. The plurality of video CODEC ICs converts the video signal into a digital signal, decodes and scales the digital signal. The PCI bus allows the system to transmit/receive data to/from a PC. The first PCI bus directly transmits/receives data to/from the PCI bus. The second PCI bus directly transmits/receives data to/from the plurality of video CODEC ICs. The PCI-to-PCI bridge connects the first PCI bus to the second PCI bus.
