A method of using user feedback to adapt performance in a multi-modal dialog system is disclosed. The method comprises presenting the user with a single or multiple options for confirmation of received user input, receiving and storing a user selection of one of the single or multiple options and adapting recognition and understanding components of the dialog system according to the stored user selection to improve performance. Other embodiments of the invention include a system and computer-readable media for practicing the method of the invention.
