Hard wearing metal part coated with mixed oxides

In a wearing part, especially bit, of hard metal or cermet with hard coating(s) with abrasive mixed oxide coating (I) based on alumina (Al2O3), as monolayer or lamellar multilayer with 0.05-1 mu m thick intermediate layers containing titanium (aluminum) carbide-nitride-boride-oxide, (I) is 0.5-10 mu m thick and the Al2O3 phase contains 0.1 to less than 3 wt.% titanium dioxide (TiO2) and 0.01-0.5 wt.% boron oxide (B2O3) in homogeneously dispersed and substantially dissolved form.
