摘要 A system for controlling a plurality of ophthalmic microsurgical instruments comprises a data communications bus, and a user interface. First and second surgical modules are connected to and control a first and another microsurgical instrument respectively as a function of at least one of the operating parameters. The data communications bus is positioned on a rack for receiving a plurality of surgical modules The rack has a backplane and slots for receiving and guiding the modules. Each of the surgical modules is positioned in one of the slots and aligned for connection to the data communications bus via the backplane. The data communications bus provides communication of data representative of the operating parameters between the user interface and the first and second surgical modules. Each surgical module includes a processor to control the corresponding microsurgical instrument, and at least one of the surgical modules includes a coprocessor to provide closed loop control of the corresponding microsurgical instrument.
