FIELD: machine tool manufacture, possibly rests of round grinding machine tools for centerless grinding, for example of rolling raceways or beads of outer or inner races of rolling bearings. ^ SUBSTANCE: rest includes strut in which lower support for compensating weight of article and multi-step self-aligning correction support are mounted. Correction support includes members symmetrical relative to their own rocking axes, namely balance beams and bearing shoes whose positions in support are determined by angles mu1 , mu2 where mu1 - angle formed by radius passing through rotation center of article and rocking axis of bearing shoes and by radius passing through rotation center of article and rocking axis of balance bean of first step; mu2 - angle formed by radius passing through rotation center of article and rocking axis of bearing shoes and by radius passing through rotation center of article and contact point of supporting surface of one arm of bearing shoe with article. Said multi-step support is asymmetrical relative to axis of last step. At least one member of one step has predetermined angles mu1 and(or) mu2 different from angles mu1 , mu2 of remaining members of the same step. ^ EFFECT: enlarged diameter range of worked products, enlarged band of suppressed harmonics. ^ 3 cl, 2 dwg
