The pulp is made to flow through a region defined by an elastic membrane (105) located downstream from the steam injection point and surrounded by a resilient medium. A device (100) for damping shock forces and pressure pulses generated by steam implosions in a pipe (101) for carrying a medium consistency pulp is described. The implosions are caused by the pulp being heated up as a result of steam (102) injected directly into the pulp in the pipe. The pulp is made to flow through a region defined by an elastic membrane located downstream from the steam injection point and forming the pipe walls over a given pipe length. The membrane is surrounded by a resilient medium. |
