A system and method of determining posture of a passenger in an automobile using stereo image matching is provided to safely protect the passenger by deploying an air bag in a manner appropriate to posture of the passenger. A system for determining posture of a passenger in an automobile using stereo image matching includes an infrared illumination part(25), an image gain part(20), a pre-treatment part(55), and a digital signal processor(60). The infrared illumination part irradiates infrared light to obtain reliability of information of posture. The image gain part captures image in the automobile to generate stereo two-dimensional image data. The pre-treatment part compensates distortion of the image to generate three-dimension model information. The digital signal processor analyzes the three-dimensional model information to determine the posture of the passenger to output the data to a controller. |
