896,172. Transfer devices for endless conveyers. CANNING & CO. Ltd., W. June 20, 1960 [Aug. 18, 1959], No. 28145/59. Classes 78 (1) and 78 (4). The transfer device is a trolley 12 running along overhead rails 13 and carrying a load arm 17 having a fork 18 at each end thereof. The load arm is given three movements: trolley 12 is reciprocated along rails 13 by motor 21 operating via chain 22; rod 14 (which carries arm 17) is given a vertical movement by cam 16 operated by motor 15, and a horizontally - rotating movement by the engagement of pinion 19 with stationary rack 20. The movement of the trolley is synchronized with that of endless conveyers 10 and 11. Operation.-Two hangers on conveyer 10 are engaged by the respective forks 18, the forks rising to lift off the hangers. The trolley then moves along the rails to cause the forks to turn through 180 degrees and the forks then drop to transfer the hanger on to conveyer 11. In this way plated articles can be removed from conveyer 10 to conveyer 11 and, on the return journey, articles for plating can be transferred from conveyer 11 to conveyer 10.
