APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A BASE TRANSCEIVER STATION IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and a device for operating a base station in a mobile communication system are provided to restrict the use of battery power when power supply from the outside is cut off in an emergency, thereby extending operational time of the base station. A digital processor(101) processes data between a mobile terminal and itself. A power amplifier unit(102) amplifies the data processed from the digital processor(101) and transmits the amplified data to the mobile terminal. A rectifier(105) converts external AC(Alternating Current) into DC(Direct Current). A battery(104) provides the DC when there is a problem in the external AC. An earthquake sensor(108) senses the occurrence of an earthquake. A power sensor(107) senses whether there is the problem in the external AC when the earthquake occurs. An environment monitor(103) collects information about whether there is problems in the earthquake sensor(108) and the power sensor(107). A controller(106) controls the power amplifier unit(102) according to the result detected by the environment monitor(103).
