<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a directly downward illumination type lighting system suitably used for a large-sized illumination signboard requiring high luminance and uniform luminance, and a liquid crystal display, and an image display device equipped with it. <P>SOLUTION: This lighting system is a directly downward illumination type lighting system at least equipped with a plurality of regularly disposed rough light sources, a reflector, a light control member to control the light emitting direction when light from the light sources and the reflector is transmitted, and a light diffusing sheet. In this lighting system, the light source is almost linear, and the reflector, the light sources, the light control member, and the light diffusing sheet are disposed in this order so as to turn toward the light emitting side from the light entering side, a belt-like projecting and recessed shape almost parallel to the longitudinal direction of the light source is periodically formed on at least either one of the surface of the light control member which light from the light source enters or the surface from which light is mainly emitted, and a plurality of projecting parts are formed on the light emitting surface of the light diffusing sheet. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
