摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a useful method for manufacturing a Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconducting wire material that allows uniform processing during extrusion/wire drawing, when fabricating the Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconductive wire material through a tube method or a powder method, prevents the occurrence of wire breakage or Sn leakage during processing and allows high superconducting characteristics to be obtained, and to provide such a Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconducting wire material. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconducting wire material includes: charging or inserting a core material, containing at least Sn into a pipe-shaped member made of Nb or a Nb alloy; further inserting the same to a billet made of Cu for forming a composite member; subjecting the composite member to diameter-reduction processing and thereafter, heat treatment to form a Nb<SB>3</SB>Sn superconducting layer from the inner surface side of the pipe-shaped member. The pipe-shaped member, made of Nb or a Nb alloy prior to processing, should be 4 to 80μm in the mean crystal particle diameter and 120 ppm or lower in total concentration of oxygen, nitrogen and carbon.
