PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control apparatus and a receiver which allow a user to easily recognize whether or not a channel input is finished. SOLUTION: The receiver 20 includes: an input section 36 for receiving a user's instruction; an OSD 242 for generating a signal denoting display of a channel number; a CPU 30 for controlling the OSD 242 to generate a signal denoting display of the channel number in a unique form to a particular period being a period when the entry section 36 receives the instruction of start of the input of the channel number until a condition for regarding the input of the channel number to be finished is satisfied, and to generate a signal for denoting the display of the channel number in a form different from the form unique to the particular period for a period different from the particular period; and an output section 38 for outputting the signals generated by the OSD 242.
