PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic apparatus, such as a portable audio equipment, so made to avoid short-circuiting accidents even if it gets in contact with a positive side terminal plate fitted inside a battery lid covering an inlet part of a battery compartment in free opening and closing. SOLUTION: A battery lid 18 of the battery compartment 16 containing secondary batteries 17 is constituted of a decoration cover 29 and a junction body of a battery lid main body, and the battery lid main body is fitted to a terminal plate 37 in free sliding movement so that a base end part of the terminal plate 37 is inserted into a slit 46 of an insulator 43 to be combined with it. When the battery lid 18 is turned to be opened in a state moved toward a tip side of the terminal plate 37, the insulator 43 gets intercalated between a decoration plate 19 and the terminal plate 37, whereby short circuiting due to the terminal plate 37 is prevented.
