PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system or the like which enables a mobile station on a transmission side to automatically acquire information on a plurality of communication modes in which a mobile station on a reception side can perform communication at present and information on charging rates, and enables the user of the transmission side mobile station to determine to perform communication in which mode with the reception side mobile station, on the basis of those pieces of information. SOLUTION: The mobile station 7 on a waiting side informs a line switching station 5 of information on a communication mode in which the mobile station 7 can perform communication at present (S10). The switching station 5 stores positional information and communication mode information of the mobile station 7 (S20), and obtains subscriber entrepreneur information etc. of the mobile station 7 from other switching stations (S30). A mobile station 1 on the transmission side makes a call to the mobile station 7 to be a communication partner (S40), through the switching station 3. The switching station 3 obtains registered information on the mobile station 7 from the switching station 5 (S60), calculates a unit charge (S70), and informs the mobile station 1 of the unit charge (S80).
