PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition having good foamability, creamy foam quality and excellent foam life, free of sliminess at the time of rinsing, and making the skin soft and moist after its use and thus having the effect of preventing the rough skin. SOLUTION: The detergent composition comprises a glycerol derivative (a) represented by formula (I): Gly-[O(PO)<SB>m</SB>(EO)<SB>n</SB>-(BO)<SB>p</SB>H]<SB>3</SB>(I) and at least one surfactant (b) selected from amphoteric surfactants and anionic surfactants having a sulfuric acid group or a sulfonic acid group, wherein (a) is contained in 0.1-30 mass%, (b) is contained in 0.5-40 mass% and the ratio by mass of (a) to (b) is 1/40-2/1. In the formula Gly indicates a residue obtained by removal of a hydroxyl group from glycerol, PO an oxypropylene group, EO an oxyethylene group, m and n each an average addition moles of 1-50, the ratio by mass of PO and EO being 1/5-5/1, BO a 4C oxyalkylene group and p indicates an average addition moles of 1-5.
