PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high throughput type medicine-screening method by which the activity of a medicine can be determined without crushing cells. SOLUTION: A cell chip in which a lyophilized yeast is disposed on a substrate. A medicine-screening method using the cell chip. A gene expression-monitoring system equipped with the cell chip. A budded yeast strain in which a gene promoter necessary for synthesizing and/or accumulating a polyphosphate on the chromosome is replaced by a promoter capable of being induced with a medicine and into which a chimera gene encoding an artificial transcription factor prepared by fusing the ligand-bound domain and transcription-activating domain of the transcription factor on the C-terminal side of the DNA-bound domain of a DNA-bound protein is introduced, wherein the polyphosphate is synthesized in the presence of a transcription factor ligand but not synthesized in the absence of the transcription factor ligand.
