Apparatus for charging and discharging an induction furnace 7 with ingots comprises an hydraulically-operated car with an arm 1 extending through the furnace and supporting an ingot, and an hydraulically-operated gate 14 linked to a pivoted lever 18 by which a treated ingot 6a moved out of the furnace by the car is pushed on to the extension 12a of a charging shoot 12, the next ingot 6b is stopped as it rolls on to a recess in the arm 1, and the third ingot 6c is held by the gate 14. Temperature gauges 8a, 8b supervising the heat treatment may have their thermocouples connected to known control apparatus by which the operations are sequentially controlled automatically. The spring-pressed gauge 8b is released by the lever 9 contacting a stop 11 when the car moves out of the furnace.</p> |
