<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radar-type probing device having versatility and capable of being used for various targets in spite of characteristics of the target. <P>SOLUTION: A slow lamp signal is generated by a lamp signal generation part 4 based on a scan signal from a scan signal generation part 2. A phase of a carrier signal from a carrier signal generation part 1 is modulated by the slow lamp signal. Waveform of the carrier signal of which phase is modulated is shaped in a waveform shaping circuit 9 so that its falling or rising is steeper, and thus generated higher-order harmonics wave is transmitted from a transmitting antenna 11. The target to which the transmission wave is projected reacts with some specific frequency included in the harmonics wave corresponding to its dielectric constant, and reflects the specific frequency in the state that the phase is reversed.
