PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming an electrodeposition coating film in which finishing appearance is fine, and also, the resistance value of the coating film is high. SOLUTION: In the method for forming an electrodeposition coating film including a stage where the object to be coated is electrodeposition-coated with a cation electrodeposition coating material composition, the coating film viscosity at 50°C in the electrodeposition coating film obtained from a cation electrodeposition coating material composition is 3,000 to 5,000 Pa s.
