PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a high quality image by preventing the positional deviation of a latent image in a subscanning direction which intersect substantially perpendicularly to a main scanning direction in an image forming apparatus which has a controller for outputting an image signal corresponding to a received image command and an engine part for forming a latent image on a latent image carrier by scanning a light beam modulated corresponding to the image signal from the controller in a main scanning direction with a resonant oscillation mirror. SOLUTION: A horizontal synchronous signal Hsync is inputted into a driving signal control part 10Y as a driving periodic signal related to the driving cycle of a deflection mirror face. Further, a driving signal Sd is so controlled that the phase of a reference signal Sr and the phase of the horizontal synchronous signal Hsync have a predetermined relative relation with the driving signal control part 10Y, and a deflector 65 is operated synchronized with the reference signal Sr. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
