PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To measure the correct tension of the wire cable to be used for a structure at a remote place without leaving the place at all, at the requested time. SOLUTION: A strain detection means for detecting the strain in the axial direction is built in the wire cable which is stranded with a plurality of strands. For the strain detection means, an optical fiber sensor 3 formed with an optical fiber cable 2 is built in the wire cable so as to deform corresponding to expansion and contraction of the wire cable. From the deformation of the optical fiber sensor 3, the variation of frequency of the incident light, or reflection, refraction or interference of the light is detected. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
