PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diesel engine, capable of preventing output abnormality, and a method for manufacturing that. SOLUTION: In this diesel engine, a groove 16 is circumferentially provided in an outer ring 15 of a front ball bearing 6, a stop ring 27 is engaged in the groove 16, a bearing presser plate 18 is installed on a front wall 4 of a pump housing chamber 1, and the outer ring 15 of the front ball bearing 6 is pressed backward by the bearing presser plate 18, so that a rear surface 19 of the stop ring 17 is abutted on a front opening circumferential thick part 20 of a front bearing hole 5. A tongue piece 21 is extended from the front opening circumferential thick part 20 of the front bearing hole 5 along the rear surface 19 of the stop ring 17 into the groove 16. In manufacturing it, prior to pressing backward the outer ring 15 of the front ball bearing 6 by the bearing presser plate 18, the outer ring 15 of the front ball bearing 6 is strongly pressed 37 backward.
